Riyadh — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman showed confidence in young Saudi generation by appointing young princes to many key positions which were announced in Royal Decrees on Saturday.
Prince Khaled Bin Salman was named as Saudi Arabia’s new ambassador to the United States.
Prince Khaled is a former F-15 pilot who graduated from Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi. In 2014, he participated in the international coalition to combat Daesh as an air force pilot.
Salman Al-Ansari, a Saudi political analyst, was quoted by AFP news agency as describing Prince Khaled as a “very organized personality, savvy, youthful, and active”.
New information minister Awwad Saleh Al-Awwad is also young. He was born on April 11, 1972.
He has been serving as the Kingdom’s envoy to Germany since Oct. 2015.
He’s previously worked as a consultant for economic and financial affairs at the crown prince’s office, as a consultant for Riyadh’s emir, as deputy governor of the General Authority for Investment and as head of the national competition center that aims to develop investments procedure.
His first job at the government was at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) where he was head of the financial studies and banking supervision at the banking institute.
Most of the deputy emirs appointed by royal decrees issued on Saturday by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman are young.
This shows that the leadership is reposing trust in its young generation.
Prince Abdullah Bin Bandar Bin Abdul Aziz was appointed deputy governor of Makkah.
Prince Saud Bin Khalid Bin Faisal, the former governor of the General Authority for Investment, was named deputy governor of Madina.
Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulrahman Bin Abdul Aziz, former adviser at the Royal Court, was made deputy governor of Riyadh.
Prince Mansour Bin Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz, a former adviser at the Crown Prince’s court, was appointed deputy governor of Asir region.
Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud was assigned deputy governorship of Jazan.
Prince Ahmad Bin Fahd Bin Salman, former adviser at the Saudi Embassy in London, was appointed deputy governor of the Eastern Province.
Prince Fahd Bin Turki Bin Faisal Bin Turki was named deputy governor of Qassim region.
Prince Turki Bin Hazloul was named deputy governor of Najran.
