JEDDAH — Memon Welfare Society (MWS) services to the Memon community are commendable said well known dignitary, scholar, author, economist, reformist and recipient of King Faisal Award in Islamic Studies Dr. Mohammed Umer Chapra at 9th foundation day of MWS held at Lasani restaurant recently.
While addressing as a chief guest Dr. Chapra said that he always explained to all the importance of education in the life of a man.
He congratulated MWS on the 9th foundation day and advised them to carry on working for the noble cause. “MWS Jeddah has got name for its selfless welfare services to the community,” he said.
Dr. Chapra was honored and presented a gift as a token of appreciation. Thereafter, he distributed awards and shields to the outstanding students of primary, secondary and high school. All award-winning students and their parents enjoyed the moment of their children receiving awards for their outstanding performance in their studies.
Well known businessmen Ahmed Abdul Karim, Mohammed Chapra, Yousuf Al-Maimani, Sheikh Mohammed Luqman and almost 100 ladies and men of the Memon community attended.
The event began with recitation of verses from Holy Qur’an by Ismail Menda. Naat was recited by Ahmed Irfan Kolsawala.
Kolsawala, president of MWS, welcomed the guests and wished for the progress and prosperity of MWS in the future.
Tayyab Moosani, secretary general, presented a report on the progress of MWS during last 9 year. Moosani said, “On April 23, 2008 our society came into existence at the same venue with 59 individuals, employees and businessmen, of Memon community.”
He explained to the audience the challenges and difficulties faced by the society in the beginning for almost 1-2 years. “Later on MWS started progressing and rendering its social and welfare services to the community without distinction and without hesitation,” he said.
Iqbal Advani, a businessman and patron of MWS, said in his address that he salutes and congratulates MWS for achieving great success in their noble venture.
Sheikh Luqman said as one of the founder members of MWS he always prayed for its success. He appreciated the untiring efforts of MWS for the betterment of community.
Mansoor Shivani gave the vote of thanks. The event concluded with Dua offered by Kolsawala.
