RIYADH – Leading women club of Riyadh ladies Humnava hosted a sumptuous Iftar dinner for prominent couples of the Pakistani community, embassy officials and bid adieu to the wives of outgoing deputy head of mission and the head of counselor section, Khadija Hassan and Nargis Kakkar, respectively. Khadija did not attend the program due to her trip of Madinah.
The colorful event was held at the chancery hall of the Pakistan Embassy here. The chancery was decorated in accordance with the theme of Ramadan by the organizers.
Dr. Erum Qalbani, secretary general of Humnava, ably conducted the proceedings that formally began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Qari Naimatullah followed by a presentation of Hassan Jalil on the guidelines about Ramadan and the rules to be followed during the blessed month.
Dr. Erum encouraged the Pakistani ladies to come forward and participate with Humnava. “Our platform provides variety of opportunities to the Pakistani ladies of Riyadh, and we have managed to have the trust of our community and feel honored to be declared as the finest platform,” she said.
Humnava’s President Bilquis Safdar welcomed the distinguished guests. In her welcome note she highly thanked the patronage of the embassy for the Humnava. “Pakistan Embassy has always supported the overseas Pakistanis and have done their level best to solve their problems. Likewise we are always lucky to have the talented and well educated wives of the officers in our club, with their presence and guidelines Humnava have striven to do their best for the Pakistani ladies,” Bilquis said.
Renowned writer Prof. Tasneem Amjad praised the tenure of Nargis Kakkar and Khadija Hassan in her speech. “Both of them worked hard for the betterment of the women and whenever we needed their support they came forward to help us,” Tasneem said.
Humnava presented a memento shield to the outgoing Nargis Kakkar. Nargis was so thankful during her farewell speech, and said, “I’ll definitely remember the time I had spent in Saudi Arabia. All of you were very kind and good to me, and we will always remain in contact.”
Shumaila Shahbaz, vice president of Humnava, also spoke on the occasion. She thanked the guests and promised to continue her efforts for the ladies from the one and only platform of the Pakistani ladies in Riyadh, Humnava.
