DAMMAM — The 2nd edition of Peevees Cup Soccer Championship, organized by Peevees Group of Schools in the Kingdom, culminated with two thrilling matches on the closing day at Euro Village, Al-Khobar.



In the final, Al-Wurood School Jeddah dominated Yara School Riyadh 4-1 to win the cup for the second time consecutively. Al-Wurood’s Sulthan Saki scored a hat trick to become the top scorer of the tournament. Abdul Wahab completed the tally for the winner.



The consolation goal for Yara was a superb solo by Nasruddin, who won the hearts of the crowd.



In the loser’s final, Al-Khozama School Dammam, which was leading 2-0 at half-time, lost to International Indian School Jubail, 4-2.



Al-Khozama goals were scored by Arham and Adnan.



IIS Jubail bounced back with four stunning goals through Mohammed Shan, Mohammed Faris (2) and Akshay in the second session and displayed excellent soccer. Nashath of IIS Jubail received thunderous applause for his amazing performance, who was later declared as the Player of the Tournament.



The other performance awards went to: Best goalkeeper: Marwan Mohammed, Al-Wurood School; Emerging Player: Anish Kiran, Al-Khozama; Man of the Match (final): Nasruddin, Yara School Riyadh; Best Player: Nashath of IIS Jubail (the trophy was sponsored by Abdul Razack, referee).



Victor Manjila, on behalf of CUEFA (Calicut University Ex-Footballers Association) handed over a memento to Peevees management for promoting football among the expatriate children which was received by A.M. Ashraf, GM, Peevees Group of Schools.



The match officials Abdul Razack (center) and Prashanth and Siddik (linesmen) did an excellent job. Trophies were given to match officials and coaches of all the teams participated in the tournament.



A.M. Ashraf, Padmini, Assistant Academic Director Peevees schools, and former Indian player Victor Manjila were the chief guests.



Trophies and awards were presented by A.M. Ashraf, Padmini, Victor Manjila, Dr. Abdul Salam, Rahmathullah, Sreedevi Menon, Razi Shaikpareeth, Stani Thomas and Abdul Razack Thekkepuram.



This event, which was hosted by Al-Khozama School, ended successfully with the excellent support from teachers, administration and transport staff of the school. — SG
