JEDDAH — An Ethiopian house worker who was accused of deliberately burning the face of a toddler has been sent to the women’s prison, pending investigations into the case.



Two-year-old Abdulaziz Al-Jihany is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital while the case was referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution.



The child’s father has provided further details of the incident. "The house worker did not follow my son to the kitchen to protect him from burning himself as she had claimed. In fact, she was ironing clothes while my wife and her sister were having dinner. My son went into the kitchen to get a plate and she followed him carrying the iron. She first denied her act, but later confessed," said Alaa Al-Jihany.



He said the house worker, identified as Madnaiyah, had refused to work for them demanding a wage increase. "At one point, their son had complained of pain in his cheeks, while mumbling the house worker’s name, but they never expected her to hurt him," he said.
