DUBAI — Bruno Metsu has been relieved of coaching duties at Al-Wasl less than three months after replacing Diego Maradona at the Dubai club. A statement by the club Friday said Metsu asked to step down as head coach due to “his current health condition.” It did not elaborate. Metsu signed a two-year contract with Al-Wasl in July, a week after the temperamental Argentine great was dismissed from the club that finished eighth in the 12-team league last season. Metsu was the national coach in Qatar and also worked in several clubs in the emirate before moving to Dubai this summer. — AP
