JEDDAH – The Bazme-Shagufa Association recently organized a function in cooperation with Urdu-Gulban and Saaz & Awaz organization at a local restaurant here.



The function witnessed the attendance of prominent members from the Khak-e-Taiba Trust, Bazm-e-Itthad, Urdu Academy Jeddah and other leading Indian societies.



Poet Farid Saher and popular comedian Hamid Kamal from Hyderabad entertained the audience and made the evening memorable with their funny poetry and acts. Kamal’s jokes and poetry painted a vivid description about some disturbing issues in the society.



A few couplets of Saher’s Anglo-Indian poetry which evoked the audiences were :

“God ki kitni yeh inayat hai

All bando pe uski rehmat hai

Meray daddy hai door jannat ke

Mom kay foot ke neechay jannat hai”



Tameez Parwaz from Aurangabad also tickled the funny bones of the audiences with his satirical poetry.



Aleem Khan Falki, overseas editor for Shagufa daily, hosted the evening. Maher Siddiqui, president of Saaz & Awaaz group sang a wonderful poem of Baikal Utsahi on the request of Kamal.



A few lines of Falki’s poetry which was appreciated by the audiences were:

Ek dost ne mujh se kaha daante huwe

Taqreer ke alawa bhi kuch aur kijie

Maine kaha khoob hai mere taaziyat shair

Khidmat ka apni zara mauqa to dijiye



Arif Masood Siddiqui, a local comedian, humorously displayed a fight between a husband and wife.



Mehtab Qadr, Shameem Kausar, Aijaz Khan, Yaqub Khan, Syed Khaja Viqaruddin, Jamal Qadri, Maher Siddiqui, Dr. Haroon and others presented shawls and gifts to all the performers.
