ASIR — A tribe in Shaaf Balqarn in the southern region of Asir has set a dowry of SR8,000 for a girl marrying for the first time and SR6,000 for a woman marrying for the second time.

The tribe leader has fixed the dowry at that amount so that the groom will not be burdened by financial obligations and to encourage young men to get married.

A rule has also been set that there would be no wedding ceremony to cut cost. The tribal leader, who said the rule will not be broken, urged other tribes to follow suit. — SG
