DUBAI — ISD Global collaborates with the Manhattan Film Academy (MFA), New York, to offer filmmaking workshops at ECMIT Campus in Dubai starting Jan. 13. The workshops will be in directing, screenwriting and acting.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn from established, accomplished Hollywood filmmakers and coaches.
Robert Tutak, founder of the MFA New York and a writer and director, brings in a unique style of facilitating learning based on the Hollywood paradigm of setup, conflict and resolution.
Tutak is also a professor of film at the City University of New York and has several films to his credit, including “Match” (Poland), “Nobody’s Perfect” (US) and “Dubai: City of Dreams” (US), as well as 16 short films and documentaries.
“We look forward to a long-term collaboration with our partner ISD Global on a range of workshops, starting with the January workshops at ECMIT, Dubai.
“Further down the line, our collaboration would be extending a vast bouquet of offerings including a one-year US-accredited academic program leading to a B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts. The workshops will be taught by internationally renowned, award-winning American and European filmmakers, including Oscars, BAFTA, Emmy, and Golden Globe winners and nominees,” Tutak said.
Ella Sloboda, an actress and acting coach who graduated from the legendary Actor’s Studio in New York City, will be conducting the acting workshops.
Her stage and screen acting career spans several countries including the US, Australia, and Poland.
“Participants in the Dubai workshops will experience a one-of-a-kind approach to the technicalities of filmmaking be it screenwriting, directing or acting. The takeaways from these workshops will be immense.
“Going forward this ISD-MFA alliance plans to follow this with long-term programs that will be certified by top US universities,” said Suresh Dinakaran, CEO, ISD Global.
Interested participants are not required to have filmmaking backgrounds, only a high degree of passion and an open mind to receive insights and training.
