Japanese designer builds real Transformer

TOKYO — A designer in Japan has actually done what many of us tried to do in vain in our garages years ago ... or perhaps are still doing. He’s built an actual, working Transformer.

Kenji Ishida built the humanoid-automobile device using 22 servo motors that not only allow it to change shape but also enable some pretty crazy rock ‘em, sock ‘em dance moves. Fortunately, it looks like he kept his design on the small, table-top side, so we don’t have to worry about a potential Michael Bay blockbuster playing itself out on our city streets any time soon. — SG
