JEDDAH — A District Court Jeddah has handed down a discretionary verdict and 60 lashes to a defendant for his negligence at work.
Working as off-shore divers, the plaintiff accused the defendant for instructing a huge ship to move to the same spot where he was still working.
The defendant told the court that he was merely following instructions. He said his colleague told him that he would go away from the said location.
“I don’t have any grudge or hostility against my colleague. I was surprised when I learned that he was still in the same spot,” he told the court.
The judge ruled that the defendant overlooked safety instructions, but dismissed the intentional murder charges.
