MADINAH/MAKKAH — Six people burned to death when their cars collided head-on Wednesday at Yanbu-Jeddah Highway.

Col. Khalid Al-Juhani, Madinah Civil Defense spokesman, said the passengers had already burned to death when his teams arrived at the scene.

In another accident, a truck driver escaped death when the water tanker got detached from his vehicle and overturned at Al-Leeth road.

Lt. Col. Fawzi Al-Ansari, Makkah Traffic Administration spokesman, attributed the cause of the accident to reckless overtaking. “The truck driver was surprised when a small car appeared in front of him all of a sudden. He swerved and lost control.”
