MAKKAH — The mystery of a string of deliberately set fires in Makkah that had left authorities baffled has finally been solved by Civil Defense investigators.

The fires occurred in women’s tailor shops and authorities say they have arrested a girl who they believe is the arsonist.

She was arrested last Thursday after she set fire to a shop in Makkah’s Kudai District. This time, she started the fire while using the shop’s bathroom.

Col. Ali Al-Muntashiri, Makkah Civil Defense spokesman and director of investigations, said after the investigation team had solved the mystery and identified the arsonist who had set fire to several shops over the past
three months, they circulated a description of the girl to other shops.
When the last fire took place, the women inside the shop were stopped from leaving the scene until the arrival of investigation teams.

Brig Jameel Arbaeen, Director of Civil Defense, thanked the owner of the shop Soda Musa Idris who identified the arsonist from the description provide by the Civil Defense.
