DAMASCUS — The well-known Syrian actor Khaled Taja, 72, passed away Wednesday after a long struggle with lung cancer. The famous actor, also known as the “Anthony Quinn of Arabs,” was admitted to Al-Shami Hospital in Damascus on March 23 suffering from severe breathing difficulties.
Taja was born in Damascus and started his career in a movie called “Truck Driver” in 1966. He also acted in many TV series such as Al-Zeer Salim, Four Seasons, Time of Shame and other cinematic works. — SG
