HAIL – A driver and his wife were rescued from a speeding car whose cruise control system had malfunctioned after the vehicle ran out of fuel on the Al-Jouf-Hail road, Al-Yaum newspaper reported on Monday. The cruise control broke down when the speed was fixed at 140 kilometers an hour. The unidentified Saudi driver called traffic police, which dispatched patrols to follow him. When the patrols tried to hit his car from behind to somehow fix the cruise control, he told them he would soon run out of gas and his car would automatically stop.

When all its fuel was consumed, the car stopped by itself about 100 kilometers from Buraidah.
