CAIRO — Casino Alsahra is a new Saudi YouTube program that sheds light on topics related to Saudi society and youth.

The program is being conducted by four Saudis, all aged around 30s, working in different fields.

The eponymous program is named after their place of filming Casino Alsahra.

Thamer Al-Meshari, 32, who is one of the stand-up comedians and presenters of the show, said that all the other members met on Twitter and while sitting in a in Casino Alsahra decided to do the program.

“The idea of the program, as mentioned in our first episode, came suddenly when we were sitting in Casino Alsahra after which we told each other to do a YouTube program,” he said.

The team does not use any professional tools for production.

“The program is actually about youth chatting and so we do not have any official production company,” adding, “We are not getting any profit from the program.”

“ We want to show the society what the present generation of youth talk about in their gatherings, without hiding the truth, and show the reality of their social lives,” he said.

The response from the viewers have clearly surprised the presenters who said that their target audience is above 21. “We did not expect such positive response from the people. I was even amazed to find out my mother watching the show.”

The program, which is does not have any specific agenda, has already produced 12 episodes.

Al-meshari said that their program does not face any competition from other YouTube channels and programs because their program is not famous yet.

In order to improve the program, however, the presenters rely on viewers’ feedback.
