JEDDAH – The IYWA Cup Football Tournament 2012 Tournament, which is being organized by Indian Youth Welfare Association (IYWA), will kick off at Dunk Football Ground near Ikea at 9:00 P.M. Friday.
Eleven teams have confirmed participation in the championship which will see 29 matches with the final slated for June 8.
Giving details of the tournament, IYWA’s President Surender Pal Singh and General Secretary Mir Gazanfar Ali Zaki said the tournament will feature two groups with six teams in Pool A and five teams in Pool B. Matches will be played daily in the evening. The matches will be officiated by Saudi, Lebanese, Egyptian and Indian referees.
The fixture of the two-week soccer festival was released by Syed Masood Ahmed, Principal, International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ), and SIFF President Hifsu Rahman by handing over copies of the schedule to Mir Gazanfar Ali Zaki, Mohammed Jaweed (both former state players of India), Vice President of Sports IYWA Aijaz Ahmed Khan and Event Coordinator Tanveer Siddiqui.
Former President of SIFF T.P. Ahmed and Hassan Bayazeed Ather, Chief Coordinator Andhra Pradesh United Forum, graced the ceremony.
The teams and groupings:
Group A – FC Fusions, IISJ, Desi Starz, Finisherz Shadab, IYWA, Angry Birds.
Group B – Barca, FC Brothers, Friends United, Shareef Khan FC, DHL.
The organizing committee members of IYWA Cup Football Tournament are: Muzzammil Hussain, Mohammed Zubair, Ather Jaweed, Zafarullah Khan, Mir Taqi Ali, Syed Baqer Ali, Anwar Ul Haq, Farooq Ahmed, Waseem Mukadam, Omi Notani, Mir Fazal Ali, Mirza Imtiaz Baig, Rehan Khan and Azher Ali Khan. — SG
