JEDDAH — Team Mountain Dew Saudi Gear Racing Team driver Hatim Nitto clinched first place at the Fifth round of UAE Drift Championship at the Dubai Autodrome Circuit recently.
Abdul Hadi Al-Qahtani and Moaz Alissa of Ford racing team finished second and third, respectively. Spectators and fans alike flooded the event to watch the best-of-the-best in the UAE drift battle for series points.
Nitto, youngest driver in the championship, showed remarkable competitive spirit and skillful performance where eventually he managed to win the race and enhance his leading position. It also put his team in the third place of the overall standing of the championship.
The fifth round of the 2013 UAE Drift Championship not only attracted enthusiasts from across the GCC but also brought in 18 top names from the GCC states.
The achievement of Nitto was truly an outstanding effort considering the participation of GCC’s top drift drivers. He said: “Competing with such names and along with the Saudi Ford Racing Team in this round added a wonderful and excitement to competition. After all, I am very pleased with what we have showed against the best and in front of this crowd at the Dubai Autodrome Circuit.”
Mohamed Al-Sufyani, team manager, praised the performance of Hatim and the other team members.
“The result was expected in view of the positive results achieved in the previous rounds and the championships. This season is much tougher than the previous ones, but Nitto has shown maturity and professionalism with the top management of the team and his teammates.”
He added: “We are a team of one body with one mind. This professional level of harmony is our success. The score of this round was very important for us to maintain our leading position among the 3G in the Championship.
Indeed, Nitto and Saudi Ford Racing Team’s performance were great and it brought the fans to their feet.”
