DAMMAM — King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam is one of the major participants at the two-day Middle East Electronic Health Summit, which starts at Riyadh’s Four Seasons Hotel Tuesday.

The summit is organized by the Ministry of Health and the Middle East Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

The summit aims to create a promising investment environment for leading information technology companies and a number of health facilities, coinciding with increasing investments in the healthcare sector in both the Kingdom and GCC countries.

The Kingdom is ranked as the country with the highest spending rate in the healthcare sector, demonstrated by the fact that the Ministry of Health confirmed earlier this year contracts for enormous healthcare projects in the country.

Dr. Omar Al-Ghamdi, associate executive director of information technology services at King Fahd Specialist Hospital Dammam, said the hospital’s participation in this year’s summit, held under the support of Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, is an important step coinciding with the preparation of King Khalid Medical City’s infrastructure and Saudi cadres to staff the new facility. — SG
