YANBU — Police are investigating a complaint filed by the Philippine Consulate’s representative in Yanbu in which he allegedly accused a Saudi Public Transport Company’s employee of sexually assaulting a Filipino housemaid.

The maid, who was working temporarily in Yanbu, did not like the job and decided to return to Jeddah. She went to SAPTCO and bought a ticket to Jeddah. An employee asked her to get on one of the empty buses. When she did, he followed her, closed the door and then raped her, she claimed. He later asked her to get on another bus heading for Jeddah.

The alleged rapist was arrested and the case was transferred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution. A number of the employee’s colleagues testified that he was a polite man who could never have done something like this. They said the bus terminal was full of people at the time the maid claimed she was assaulted and there was no way the employee could have done it.
