DHAHRAN — The deanship of research at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) will hold a Research Day on Sunday. The annual event is in continuation to two successful earlier events organized by KFUPM to publicize the research activities of the university.

Dr. Nasser Mohammed Al-Aqeeli, Dean of Research, said the theme of the 3rd KFUPM Research Day is “University and Industry (U&I) Collaboration.”

“Scientific Research constitutes a major component of the mission of most institutions of higher education. Being part of KFUPM as a leading university in the region, the Deanship of Research does not only support research activities of our faculty but also contributes to their scholarly and teaching skills through research projects, conference attendance support and collaboration with international institutions,” Al-Aqeeli said.

The objective of the event is to enable faculty, researchers, graduate students and guests to learn about the research activities of the university and build an environment of focused and innovative research.

“We are doing our utmost to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of research activities at KFUPM. We strive to achieve our goal of leadership in quality research that is focused and directed toward excellence in the respective areas of expertise of our faculty and researchers,” he added.

Experts from various industries and academic backgrounds have been invited to speak on the advantages of university-industry collaboration for the Saudi economy.

A keynote speech will be delivered by an international speaker with years of experience in such collaborations. Also speaking at the event will be representatives from Saudi Aramco and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC).

The academic departments and research centers of the university and some prominent local industries will be exhibiting their research capabilities, with a focus on U&I collaboration.
