RIYADH — The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh extended its reach to more Filipino nationals in Saudi Arabia when it conducted its 12th “Embassy on Wheels” program this year in Wadi Al-Dawasir on Thursday and Friday.

The four-member consular team was led by Consul General Marshall Louis M. Alferez, a press release issued here said.

The mission was able to process 72 passport applications, two passport extensions, one birth report and three notarial and authentication services.

Alferez said: “I would like to express my deep appreciation to the community leaders in Wadi Al-Dawasir who helped us arrange this outreach activity.

“The embassy recognizes that there are small towns and cities in Saudi Arabia that have notable concentrations of Filipinos — such as in Wadi Al-Dawasir — and we aim to be able to visit them and provide them with much needed consular services.”

Some 600 km south of Riyadh, Wadi Al-Dawasir is a quiet valley town home to about 700 to 1,000 Filipinos, mostly working as doctors, nurses, farm supervisors and laborers.

The next Embassy on Wheels will be in Al-Khobar, the Eastern Province, on May 23-24 at the Al-Jazeera International School in Dammam.
