DUBAI — Rising Yemeni singer Balqees Ahmed Fathi was named best young talent by the French fashion magazine L’Officiel at the 2012 L’Officiel Arab Woman Awards held at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi.

Balqees will travel to Beirut this week to shoot the music video for her song “Ya Hawa” (“Oh It’s Love”), which has been at the top of Gulf music charts for the past few weeks. — SG
