DHAHRAN — Under the slogan "For My Country," the voluntary work unit at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), which is affiliated with the Skills Development Agency, launched its annual voluntary program, "The 5th Volunteering Day.”

Deputy Dean of College of Applied and Supporting Studies Dr. Salem Al-Diny said the program aims to introduce students to their duties and performing a part of their social responsibilities through several activities targeting patients, the elderly, children, the environment and general facilities.

He said, "1,600 students formed 32 work teams and contributed more than 11,000 volunteering hours".

The festival was launched with the support of KFUPM Rector Dr. Khaled Bin Saleh Al-Sultan, who expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the long-term preparation and success of this giant charity project, which is considered as one of the most outstanding KFUPM initiatives toward the community.

Al-Sultan said voluntary work is a pillar of KFUPM which every student should participate in throughout his period of study at the university.

Al-Diny said, "KFUPM Volunteering Day had been just a dream and it turned into a reality, thanks to Allah first and then to KFUPM management that offers activities and events developing the student's skills and rooting good values in his personality."
