JEDDAH — “Young Momins,” a multi-cultural community club that aims to help the poor and needy, recently organized their inaugural event at a local restaurant here.
The founder and organizer of the “Young Momins,” Munawarunnisa Nazneen, delivered a speech on the importance of giving charity, and quoted Ahadith and Qur’anic verses related to her topic. “The most lovable act in the sight of Allah is giving Zakat and Charity to the poor and needy.”
The event witnessed the participation of people Indian, Pakistani, Syrian and Saudi communities.
Among the guests were Safia Shahnaaz Kausar; Rubab Azad, principal, Al-Waha International School, Jeddah; Sadia Kaleem, Principal, Al-Hukama International School; Syeda Azmat Jahan Atya, Lecturer, King Abdul Aziz University; Sameera Aziz; Dr. Summayya, gynecologist, Badrussama Polyclinic; Amrina Qaisar, country head, Wigomania; Lata Surej, well-known fashion designer; and Heena of Heena beauty parlor, among others.
The guests also shed light on helping the underprivileged section of the society.
Kaleem and Dr.Summayya spoke about zakat.
Azad said that everyone should keep a part of monthly income to for charity, or to help the needy.
The event began with the recitation of a few verses from the Qur’an followed by a children’s performance.
Various Naats and Hamds of Umme-Habiba and Sami Yusuf, and patriotic songs of Allama Iqbal followed interactive speeches between the guests and audience.
Qaisar, who is associated with Zahra Breast Cancer Foundation, spoke in length about cancer. Women usually lose their hair due to chemo-therapy sessions, and it has a psychological effect on her self-esteem and confidence.
Wigomania has designed hair products for those ladies that look natural.
An “Abaya Fashion Show” featured new, fashionable, and trendy Abayas.
Aziz judged and presented Miss Beautiful Abaya.
Surprise gifts and lucky draws were also in store for the guests.
Mona Khan, Founder of Zoom Zoom Kids’ Entertainment, was appreciated for being the most active member in the club.
Mementos were also presented to Aziz and others.
In future, the club aims to collect funds to support the weddings of poor girls. A cake cutting ceremony was also held.
The event featured stalls from Blue Lavender, Lata Surej Abayas, and Precious stones from Ruby Feroza.
Nazneen and Jahan conducted the proceedings of the show. — S
