SR450m to build road linking KAIA with Makkah

MAKKAH — The head of roads and transport management in Makkah Province has revealed plans to construct a highway connecting Makkah to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.



The first phase of the project, costing SR150 million, has been accomplished, said Mohammad Tawfiq Madani, local newspapers reported.



The project’s second phase, worth SR300 million, will start as soon as a contractor is found. Madani said another project, the Briman road connecting Jeddah to Makkah from the north, is nearing completion.



Madani outlined other upcoming projects including the renovation of Al-Khawajat road, the construction of train stations across Makkah, Jeddah, Madinah, and Rabigh, the installation of street lights on the expressway connecting Makkah to Madinah via Taif and the implementation of a budget for the construction of Al-Kar road.
