JEDDAH — A representative of C3 Films/Telfaz11 here, Husam Al Sayed works behind the lens as a local producer and film director.
Before joining C3 Films, Al Sayed worked as an editor and in-house director for Jeddah based production house SilverGrey Picture & Sound.
Al Sayed told Saudi Gazette that he later edited films, corporate videos, and TVC’s, and started directing and shooting various video productions.
“I obtained my bachelors degree in digital film and television from Limkokwing University for Creative Technology, Malaysia.”
He has been part of famous YouTube shows, such as “Khambala” and “La Yekthar” in Saudi Arabia.
He has several TV commercials and other video productions to his credit.
Al Sayed leaves a trademark on all his projects. He is known for short documented movies and commercials ranging from fashion to food and cars.
His ability to capture and emote feelings is illuminated through the lens in every scene.
For Al Sayed, films offer an alternative reality and a recreation of an event. “I’ve always been fascinated by films. To be able to tell a story and have control over time and space, that is something. I studied animation but found my niche in films.”
He said he soon earned a part at one of the leading production companies in Saudi Arabia after his training. “That is where I learned the trade and garnered experience.”
Talking about challenges he faces on a daily basis, Al Sayed said the challenges help him think outside the box.
“Try to make the best out of the situation you are in. I have a firm belief that if you do an outstanding job in any field, sooner or later you will shine.
“To be able to utilize your skill-set and to have a definitive style will definitely give you the upper hand in progressing and getting out of the mainstream path, which many are content with.”
YouTube is a breathing space for all filmmakers in Saudi Arabia, and being a part of the C3 Films/Telfaz11’s family has made it much easier for Al Sayed.
“It had a great impact on my career. I have a great team of creative minds and filmmakers like myself; together we try our best to step up the game and challenge the obvious, one video at a time.”
Stressing on the importance of social media, Al Sayed admitted it has helped him immensely in his career path. “YouTube is part of a large social media network that is consumed heavily in Saudi Arabia.
“So not only is my video watched on YouTube, it’s also shared on Facebook, Twitter and other platforms that definitely helps spread a filmmaker’s name.”
Al Sayed is working on an upcoming series for the Telfaz11 network. “I’m working hard to try and shape the present the way I want the future to be. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
