JEDDAH — Jeddah Malayalam Toastmasters Club (JMTC) has elected its officers for 2013-14 at a recent gathering here.
In his acceptance speech, JMTC's president Ashir Ameerudheen vowed to take the club to new heights during his term. He said his team is charged up to strengthen the club with a membership campaign for the benefit of all Keralites living in Jeddah.
The JMTC is the first Malayalam language club launched under Toastmaster International in Saudi Arabia. The club is committed to develop public speaking and leadership skills of its members.
The club's outgoing president, DTM Rashid Ali, mentioned the challenges they faced in launching the Malayalam club.
He expressed gratitude to veteran TMs Raja Chandra and Mahboob and all media personnel for their support.
Rashid Ali, general manager of Toyota Marketing Operations at Abdul Latif Jameel Company in Jeddah, took the initiative to establish the Malayalam Toastmasters Club in the city.
The newly elected club officers are: Ashir Ameerudheen, president; Shahid Malayil, vice president education; Saji Kuriakose, vice president membership; Anvar Vadakkangara, vice president public relations; Shashi Nair, secretary; Assain Illikal, treasurer; and Mohamed Kutty, sergeant at arms.
While inducting the new office bearers, Area Governor Rhic S. Briones congratulated all outgoing officers for their accomplishments.
Newly certified Competent Communicators Anvar Vadakkangara and Shashi Nair were honored at the event.
The club members are planning to extend their toastmastering activities by launching a ladies club in the near future.
