JEDDAH — While lauding the case of the cats’ killer, who was caught on video killing cats, in the Kingdom under investigation, Saudi Wildlife Authority have issued a clarion call for the arrest of a rabbit hunter.

The man too was caught on video on Friday presenting for sale a large number of killed rabbits hanged on his car, with background music.

The video prompted online anger, and Saudi Wildlife Authority immediately called on authorities to take all the legal measures, with the coordination of the security authorities, to halt this animal cruelty.

This incident was brought to light after the arrest of the cats’ killer on Thursday. His case is still under investigation. According to newspapers, the young man family members have been offered police protection in response to threats from outraged neighbors.

The cats’ killer mentioned in one of his Snapchat’s videos after having the cat filter on his face that his action saved him the cost of four car washes. His action sparked an outrage on social media.

After watching the video of the rabbits’ hunter, many Saudis were asking the basic question ‘what did these animals do to those hunters that they kill them?’ while most of them expressed their disappointment at the killing of animals.

Many of the Twitter users urgently sought stiff deterrence, stating that having tough penalties would prove to be a deterrent for people, and subsequently the number of cruel actions will surely come down.

Zaher, a young male, tweeted, “Here we go again. Another person in less than 72 hours making a satanic crime against animals.”

A female user, named Nourah, on social media explained that killing and hunting animals would negatively affect the environmental cycle.

She said, “He hunted the rabbits to eat them. By killing all these numbers and you will make them disappear. This action is sure to break the environmental balance. And when at that time you’ll try to find a solution, you’ll be one of the people negatively affected."

Few people mentioned that hunting some animals including, birds and rabbits is halal and is accepted since we eat it. Yet, killing cats is not acceptable and forbidden.
