MAKKAH/TABUK – Mystery shrouds the disappearance of a Saudi scholarship student a week after he was to board a flight from the US to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Muwaffaq, Majed Al-Otaibi’s brother, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that his brother departed from Nashville Airport (Tennessee) last Saturday on board a United Airlines flight heading to Chicago Airport (Ohio). He intended to travel to Abu Dhabi, but he did not board the flight and went missing.
Majed was not suffering from any health problems, Muwaffaq said. He was a regular student since six years in West Kentucky University and his specialization was electrical engineering.
Muwaffaq further said when Majed did not arrive by the flight the airlines confirmed that his brother was not among the passengers. The last stations where his brother was seen were in Chicago.
Muwaffaq contacted the Saudi embassy in the United States and was told that officials have contacted pertinent authorities but there was no further information on Majed’s whereabouts.
Muwaffaq appealed to the Saudi ambassador in the US to intervene. He added that his family, living in Al-Jamsh rural center in Afif, is in a bad psychological and emotional condition following Majed’s disappearance. He praised the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh that sympathized with the family’s condition.
