TNTJ blood donation drives for pilgrims

JEDDAH — In preparation for the upcoming Haj, Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath (TNTJ), Jeddah region, organized a mega blood donation campaign here recently. The campaign was held to support Haj pilgrims during their stay in the Kingdom.

More than 140 volunteers participated in the blood donation campaign and donated 125 units of blood.

TNTJ Secretary, Jeddah region, Salahudeen, said, “We arranged this big event and donated blood for Haj pilgrims. The campaign started at about 2 p.m. and ended at 6 p.m. in the evening. Each donor underwent assessment tests for blood pressure, sugar, Hemoglobin count etc., before the donation. The checks also included diseases communicable by blood transfusion.”

So far TNTJ organization has conducted 15 campaigns in Jeddah hospitals. According to him, Jeddah TNTJ continues to be the No. 1 organization in conducting these blood donations campaigns for the last 6 years. In recognition for their efforts, hospital authorities have awarded more than 5 awards to TNTJ praising their work.

Dr. Imad, chief of blood bank, and Ali Hamad, organizer, arranged the blood donation campaign in King Fahd Hospital here and they thanked the TNTJ organizers for organizing such a kind and noble work on regular basis.

The King Fahd Hospital authorities had announced earlier that the blood collected during this camp would be used to help save the lives of Haj pilgrims, who are coming from various parts the world to the holy cities, in an emergency.

Mohamed Munaf, president of TNTJ, Jeddah, said, “We conduct these campaigns in accordance of Noble Qur’an Chapter 5 Verse 32, ‘Whoever saves a life will be as if he has saved entire mankind.’ Surely, this will help in creating social harmony and razes hatred among us.”

“Jeddah TNTJ is well known in hospital circles not only for conducting blood drives but also for its frequent blood donations on urgent basis. TNTJ volunteers provide transport to the donors from the hospital and home.

“This is 16th such blood drive of this nature by TNTJ Jeddah region,” he added.

The group maintains to be the No. 1 organization in blood donation in Tamil Nadu and most of the GCC countries. Tamil Nadu government has awarded a number of awards appreciating its social concern to serve humanity.

Also TNTJ, Riyadh region, conducted its 63rd blood donation camp and 271 units were donated blood in King Fahd Medical City (KFMC) in Riyadh.
