JEDDAH — The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance has warned all mosque imams in the Kingdom from ignoring the Friday prayer on the Eid day and said this is against the Sunnah.

The ministry, in a circular, asked all the mosque imams to hold the Jumaa prayer and not to do it together with the Eid prayer.

It said the Jumaa prayer should not be made into a Zuhur prayer as it was held in the past by some mosque imams.

"Those who have missed the Eid prayer should not be deprived from praying Jumaa," the ministry told the imams.

The ministry asked for closing down the small mosques so that worshippers will not be distracted and will come together for the congregational Jumaa prayers in big mosques.

It said it would closely follow up on the implementation of these directives in all areas in the Kingdom.
