JEDDAH — The Izhaar Urdu Talk Masters, an Urdu Toastmasters club here from the Area 34 of Division H of District 79 of Saudi Arabia, held its 83rd meeting for its members recently. Abdul Sami, president of the club, welcomed all members, while Mohammed Aslam Afghani compered the event, which kicked off with humanity as its theme.
Shoebuddin, a mechanical engineer in his debut presentation, initiated his talk with few couplets from Urdu poetry “Jab Kare Baat To Har Lafz Se Khushboo Aaye, Aisi Boli Wohi Bole Jisse Urdu Aaye” and then highlighted his admiration for Urdu literature and the beauty of the language. He was evaluated by Syed Abdul Nasir.
In conclusion, Shoebuddin said, “Nahin Hai tera Nashemaan Qasar E Sultani Ke Gumbad Par, Tu Shaheen Hai Basera Kar Pahadoun Ki Chatanoun Par” which was well received by the audience.
Mohammed Arshad presented his 8th project, which was the PowerPoint presentation on Internet games and video games. He explained that the first video game was invented in 1970 for one person’s relaxation of mind. According to a US survey, conducted in 2014, more than 155 million people regularly play video games.
About 28 percent of today’s younger generation play video games for at least three hours daily. More than 56 percent of people, who play video games or Internet games, are male and 48 percent are females. He then gave a few details about the latest Internet video game “Blue whale” which was introduced by Philip Budekin and went viral with many kids losing their lives by completing different tasks of the game. He called upon the parents to be more vigilant and prevent such catastrophic impact. He was evaluated by Abdul Sami.
Syed Naser Khursheed presented his advance project by delivering an emotional lecture on “The importance of the most blessed person in life”. He termed his mother as the most blessed person in his life and explained how her teachings shaped his life and made him successful. He was evaluated by Mohammed Aslam Afghani.
In the table topics session, Syed Naser Khursheed, the host of the session, invited different members and guests present from the audience. Abdul Sami spoke on “Compromising”, Syed Abdul Nasir spoke on “Incidents which changed his life”, Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig spoke on “Failure or Impossible”. Abdul Rahman M. Baig spoke on “Destination preferred for vacation or relaxation of mind”. Shehrozuddin spoke on “Peace”. Mohammed Arshad spoke on “What after Graduation and Wedding”. Shoeb spoke on “Benefits of mechanical engineering” and TM Mohammed Aslam Afghani spoke on “Most happiest moments of life other than wedding”.
In another session, Syed Naser Khursheed, Abdul Rahman M. Baig and Shoeb recited couplets of Urdu poetry of Ghouse Khamakhaa, Amjad and Bahadur Shah Zafar respectively. Mohammed Aslam Afghani and Mohammed Arshad presented few jokes on the effects of blue whale game and its reactions on human being.
The general evaluator and grammarian for the session was Abdul Sami. The timekeeper of the different sessions was Mohammed Aslam Afghani Khan while Syed Abdul Nasir was the error counter (Aah counter) of the evening.
Shehrozuddin who came to the Urdu Toastmasters club for the first time said, “It was nice to see a gathering of the members of the Toastmasters which reflects love of the community toward Urdu. He promised to bring in more members.
“I was fond of Urdu poetry since my childhood and this is the best platform where I can recite the couplets of different Urdu poets and overcome my stage fear.”
Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig said, “It is gratifying to see the promotion of Urdu language through theToastmasters club. This is the right place that one can rectify all the mistakes in Urdu through the help of this club. The Izhaar Urdu Talk Masters Club will surely promote Urdu language.”
Abdul Sami, president, Izhaar Urdu Talk Masters, congratulated all the winners and said that number of members are growing and the club is gaining popularity.
The program concluded with the announcement of the winners of the meeting by vote counter of the evening Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig. Best table topic speaker award was given to Syed Naser Khursheed, while best speaker for spontaneous topics session was given to Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig and the best evaluator was given to Syed Abdul Nasir.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Abdul Sami, president of the club and he declared the next meeting to be held on Oct. 2.
