NEARLY one hundred Saudi app developers exhibited at ‘Appz World’, a forum linking entrepreneurs with potential investors.
In its first edition, the two-day forum that launched on Thursday hosted by the Young Businessmen Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) aims to boost small and medium enterprises.
A wide variety of apps displayed novel services in transportation, health, marketing, media, food delivery, retail, and event planning among others.
120 private and government entities, including incubators, technology enterprises, telecommunication companies, and developers attended the forum.
Experts discussed development, design, quality improvement, customer service and how to create a business model among other topics.
12 new apps made by Saudis were inaugurated by Prince Abdullah Bin Bandar, deputy emir of Makkah, at the opening of the event.
Such innovative businesses contribute significantly to the diversification of the economy under the new reform programs the Kingdom is going through, noted Hassan Dahlan, Secretary General of the JCCI.
“Supporting and developing local entrepreneurs needs to be accompanied with the right environment for investment,” he added. — SG
