Every young woman dreams of one day getting married to a knight in shining armor who will love and cherish her and treat her like a princess. Every young woman dreams of a beautiful world, and that is why she is meticulous with each and every detail of her wedding because she wants everything to be perfect.

Most husbands today, however, believe that their only role is to provide for their family and take care of their homes. In fact, many of them are oblivious to their responsibilities as caring husbands. They spend most of the time hanging out with their friends when not working. Some of them only spend a little time with their wives and children during the weekdays and weekends as well. Deep down, those husbands believe that they are doing the right thing, blatantly ignoring the fact that their wives and children are more important than their friends.

Even if those husbands stay at home, they tend to spend most of their time on their iPhones or watching TV. Some of them like to spend their time playing online games like Clash of Clans, where players build their own communities, train troops and attack other players. They even brag about their skills in building strong undefeatable troops. They are literally addicted to such games.

Shockingly, some of them do not even accompany their wives on regular appointments to the doctor or hospital. If their son or daughter is sick, they will ask the wife to accompany the sick child to the hospital while they go out with their friends. They are irresponsible.

These ignorant husbands do not care or pay attention to their wives while, at the same time, they expect too much from them. Instead of changing the way they treat their wives, they think about marrying a second wife. Deep down they believe that they have the right to do so because their wives have been negligent.

I ask irresponsible and ignorant husbands to remember how the Prophet (peace be upon him) urged all men to be kind to women. When old, such husbands will spend their time alone because their wives and children will have grown accustomed to their absence.
