October 22, 2017

Saudi Gazette report

JEDDAH — A criminal court sentenced two expatriates to 70 lashes each for verbally assaulting a female employee at a company. The female employee quit her job and lodged a complaint against her two male colleagues, a Yemeni and a Pakistani.

The woman claimed that the two men have verbally abused her in their workplace. They called her a “bitch” and a “fly”.

The two men objected to the verdict, claiming their female colleague’s testimony was false. The woman played an audio recording proving that the two men had indeed abused her.

The court sentenced each of the expatriate men to 70 lashes to be given outside of the police station and in plain sight of the public.
