DDA, RRJ and BBN make last four of KPL

RIYADH — Downtown Dynamites Alkharj (DDA), Rawalakote Rangers Jubail (RRJ) and Baramullah Bashers Nofa (BBN) entered the semifinals of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL), sponsored by Halayalla, here this week.

In a thrilling tie between Srinagar Strikers Jeddah (SSJ) and DDA, the latter won by 8 wickets. SSJ compiled a mammoth total of 192 after a shaky start of 7/3. Bilal Wani and Gowhar Wani shared an excellent partnership with Bilal scoring 99 runs and Gowhar 38 runs. Arif Malik scalped 3. DDA were right on money from word go. After good start by Azhar Banday and Altaf Hussain, Amir Sofi took charge with a fine 102 not out and took his team to semifinals. Mushtaq Ahmad and Shabir Ali had one wicket each. Amir Sofi was man of the match.

Anantnag Avengers Abha (AAA) scored 190 against RRJ in 20 overs. Majid Bashir hit 120 off 65 balls (11 sixes and 4 fours) in AAA’s reasonable total. Asif took 3 wickets. RRJ chased down target to make the semifinals. Sohail Latif (33 runs), Najmus Saqib (34 runs) and Muhammad Asif (45 runs off 16 balls) scored. Asif was man of the match.

3rd match of the Day: Last match of the KPL league matches was played between Baramullah Bashers Nofa & Rajbagh Royals Riyadh (RRR) posted 179 against BBN in the third tie, with Tanveer Bhat topscoring with 62 .Sohail Bakshi and Faisal Bashir helped the team to its tally. Sohail Ahmad picked 2 wickets. In reply BBN won with 8 wickets in hand to stay top of the table. Captain Asmat Khan scored 75 off 35 balls (7 sixes and 5 fours). Lukman (52) and Sohail Ahmed (19) too scored. Riyaz Wani took 2 wickets. Asmat Khan was man of the match.
