Sri Lanka seeks Saudi partners for its food and beverage produce

JEDDAH — The Department of Commerce of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Tea Board, with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh, joined hands with the private sector companies in Sri Lanka to promote the country’s food and beverage products at the Foodex Saudi 2017 that kicked off on Nov. 12. The event will wind up today (Nov. 15).

Six Sri Lankan companies in the food and beverage sector are participating in the exhibition.

The country’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mr. Thassim and Consul General in Jeddah Mr. U. L. Niyas were the main guests at the inaugural of Sri Lankan pavilion.

A half-day session was organized for the interested buyers from Saudi Arabia to network with sellers from Sri Lanka at the Movenpick Hotel Jeddah on Nov. 14. Around 50 Saudi importing and distribution companies took part in the event. — SG
