DAMMAM — Driving schools will start receiving women from March, according to informed sources.

There are about 64 driving schools in the Kingdom which women are expected to join to learn driving to obtain drivers’ licenses.

According to a royal decree, women will be allowed to drive from June 2018.

Many Saudi women who lived or studied abroad have driving licenses of the countries where they lived. Some of them have international driving licenses.

A number of tourism and travel agencies in the Kingdom have offered Saudi women trips to neighboring countries to take driving lessons there.

The traffic department (Murror) recently announced that a driver’s license applicant must attend driving lessons of 90 to 30 hours.

The Murror said that even trained drivers should take driving lessons for at least 30 hours.
