Jeddah — Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, figures on the list of the “Bloomberg 50.”
Bloomberg compiled the list of leading figures from “finance and politics to tech and entertainment who defined global business in 2017.”
“He (Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman) continued to upend tradition this year by pushing to allow women to drive, a decision that’s forecast to add $90 billion to the economy by 2030. The prince is also maneuvering to ensure that the Saudi sovereign fund is the world’s largest, agreeing to commit $20 billion to an infrastructure investment pool..,” wrote Glen Carey.
Crown Prince Muhammad has embarked on bold social and economic reforms in Saudi Arabia.
His National Transformation Program 2020 and Vision 2030 have been hailed by experts all over the world and have borne fruits for the benefit of the Kingdom.
A Saudi Finance Ministry budget report released last Sunday put the Kingdom’s total third quarter revenue at SR142.1 billion ($37.9 billion), up 11 percent year-on-year.
The ‘Bloomberg 50’ list includes US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, CEO of Activision Blizzard Inc. Bobby Kotick, CEO of Merck & Co. Ken Frazier, founder of Softbank Group Corp. Masayoshi Son, senators of Maine and Alaska Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, co-founders of Two Sigma David Siegel and John Overdeck, Chief financial officer of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Marty Chavez, CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp. Marillyn Hewson among others.
Crown Prince Muhammad is also leading the TIME magazine’s poll for the prestigious ‘Person of the Year 2017’ award.
With 22 percent votes so far, Crown Prince Muhammad looks set to beat US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and many other high-profile figures.
TIME magazine has chosen 33 people from diverse fields of activities across the world.
Voting on the reader’s choice poll ends on Dec. 3 and TIME’s Person of the Year will be announced on Dec. 6.
Trump, who won the title last year, is far behind in second place, with just 5 percent of the vote.
The final decision is in the hands of the magazine editors but the people’s vote reportedly also does play a role.
