JEDDAH — One three teams still have two wins by week two of the Saudi Basketball Federation season. Ittihad sits at the top defeating Khualdiah 109 to 62.
Ittihad was in championship form with a combination of strong inside play and outside shooting. Import players Randy Reed scored 34 and Jordan Williams added 26. Ittihad’s brothers Mathena and Mohammed Hassen pumped in 19 and 18 points respectively. With four scorers like that they are going to be on their way to a great season. Al Khualdiah’s import players Ulysses Thomas had 19 and Lewis Kraft 15 with Saudi Mohammed Ali adding 11 points.
Fateh played Al Ahli in Jeddah, with Ahli striking out first. Ahli led at the end of the first period 28 to 20. By half time Fateh had narrowed the gap to two points and was down by two, Ahli 43 - Fateh 41. The second half started as a back and forth battle with each team going up by two or being down by two. Fateh broke away in the last three minutes in the third and went up by seven 67 to 60.
Fateh got it right in the fourth and increased the lead to 11 points winning the game Fateh 84 Ahli 73. Fateh’s star point guard Mohammed Al Sagaf had 21 points while import players Donnel Davidson 23 and Damillo Mitrovit 16. Ahli’s Mazook Mouled led his team with 19 points and import player Taylor Brown 16. Yaya Iberhiem and Ali Shalabi each added 9 points.
In other games Ohud beat Ansar 78 to 69 to take the second spot in the league, and Hilal edged out Nasser 79 to 77 to take the third position. Nasser is 4th, Ahli 5th, Fateh 6th, Al Safa 7th, with Ansar, Wehdah, and Khualdiah in the last position.
