RIYADH
— A video went viral of a woman demanding to have her phone back from two staffers of the Commission of the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) after they had the device confiscated from her.

Riyadh Haia spokesman Mohammad Al-Sibr said the commission has suspended the two staffers and opened an investigation into the incident. He added no judgment will be issued until the commission hears what happened from both sides.

The video showed a woman pursuing the Haia members who had taken the phone from her. The woman kept repeating that it was not legal for them to take phone sets from the general public. People started to gather around the woman. Users on social media had mixed reactions about the incident. Many thought that the members of the Haia should not confiscate her phone and others thought that the woman should not take a video of them against their will.
