Saudi Arabia bans transmission of any program insulting women

RIYADH – The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Awwad Saleh Al-Awwad has issued directives banning the transmission of any soaps or programs that explicitly or implicitly insult the Kingdom’s women or any other segment of the society.
The ministry also issued a warning against using Saudi Arabia’s name in titles so as to promote works that are not in conformity with the values, morals and ethical standards stated in the Kingdom’s information policy.
The ministry stressed that any channel that shows works violating the Saudi information policies will be penalized according to the regulations.
The directives issued Friday state it is obligatory on the media authorities to ensure that there is positive content in all the works of art and TV programs such that they enhance moral values, instill principles and beautiful concepts and raise the level of the public’s artistic taste.
