JEDDAH — Emir of Makkah, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal will today (Tuesday) open Al-Safa district’s model center which is the second center of its kind in the region. The first such center was opened last year in Al-Muntazahat district in Jeddah.
The center, which belongs to the society of the districts in the governorate, will focus on cultivating the youth, increasing their commitment to the country and reaching moderation in Islam.
The center will also make efforts to strengthen social ties among the residents and training them on the correct hygienic and environmental safety.
It will endeavor to boost the voluntary work, promote ethics and train the residents to raise their skills for the job market. More than 500,000 people have benefited from the programs of the society of districts with more than 12,000 young men and women participating in more than 5,000 voluntary activities.
There are 35 district centers in Jeddah consisting of 19 for men, 14 for women and two for the productive families.
Prince Khaled Al-Faisal will also open the conference on the development of Makkah to be organized in the holy city by the Makkah Governorate on Dec. 26. The Ministry of Finance and the Authority to Develop Makkah Province will participate in the organization of the three-day meeting.
The conference will discuss ways and means of further developing Makkah making it an international city which will provide spectacular services to the residents, guests of God and visitors.
Secretary general of the authority, Hisham Al-Faleh said the conference’s message to the world is that the Kingdom will leave no stone unturned to upgrade the services being extended to the pilgrims, spread moderation and fight terrorism.
He said the conference will review the existing development projects being implemented by the government or the private sector. “Makkah is replete with development projects and ample and untapped investment opportunities,” he added.
