JEDDAH — The Jeddah book fair this year includes not only bookstores, but also witnessed an important addition to the activation of aspects of culture, with cultural events by five friendly countries, China, Japan, Turkmenistan, the European Union and the United States of America.
Abdul Rahman Al Assim, the general supervisor of international culture affairs at the Ministry of Culture and Information, said that this year the organizing committee has selected a number of international cultural shows such as the Chinese acrobatic group, the American pop country music from the Freedom group, as well as Japanese calligraphy participants in a joint workshop with one of the famous Saudi calligraphers, who was chosen carefully and meticulously.
He added the delegation of the European Union has been participating in a number of films that will guide the culture of children, with the pavilion of an exhibition of about 60 paintings representing 12 European countries.
The Republic of Turkmenistan also participated in an art exhibition representing a number of plastic paintings in the fine arts, which is expected to impress the visitors of the exhibition, stressing the readiness of the guest program participants from all aspects of logistics, technical and administrative.
In addition, American artist David Mir, who painted the Saudi flag with pendants weighing about 200 kg, which he presented it as a gift to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and to the people of Saudi Arabia, will give lectures during the exhibition about the story of his creativity in art and art in general.
