Renault Middle East will mark the holy month, with its Ramadan in Projects campaign that welcomes organizations looking to implement a philanthropic project linked with the Corporate Social Responsibility values supported by Renault. These Projects can earn a grant of up to $25,000.

“Ramadan in Projects” focuses on 4 Renault Corporate Social Responsibility areas to explore philanthropy. Renault invites all Middle East organizations who would like to request for financial sponsorship to share their creative ideas through 4 ranges of actions – Education, Diversity, Road Safety and Sustainable Mobility.

• Education and diversity to promote equal opportunities

• Access to sustainable mobility for all and raising awareness on road safety

Ramadan in Projects will run from the first day of Ramadan until Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. Pre-selected projects will be published on Renault Middle East’s Facebook page. Final applications will be reviewed by the Renault CSR Committee based in Paris, which will take place in November 2013.

Ramadan in Projects follows the success of Renault’s Ramadan in Words campaign in 2011 and Ramadan in Photos in 2012.

How to apply?

Participants are invited to log in via a dedicated landing page www.ramadaninprojects.com that offers information on the Renault Philanthropy, Sponsorship Program and link to the application form.  All details about the operation available on the link.

The initiative comes as part of Renault’s people-centric approach and philosophy. Peyman Kargar, Renault Middle East Managing Director, said: “Through Ramadan in Projects initiative and in line with the values of the giving during the Holy Month, Renault Middle East offers to provide support to NGOs and welfare associations. Indeed, no big company can focus exclusively on its economic performance without paying any attention to its environment. It is our responsibility and our interest to get involved in the social life of the countries where Renault is present”.

Renault is involved in a wide range of corporate philanthropy initiatives worldwide.

Renault has long been aware of its own social responsibility to its employees, its customers and the planet, and has actively taken this responsibility for many years.

The Corporate Social Responsibility is a vehicle of progress for society and of performance for the company. It is the driving force and the guarantor of Renault’s commitment to responsible mobility.

Examples of selected projects by the Renault Corporate Social Responsibility Committee

Road Safety in INDIA - Cineart road Safety

In partnership with the French Embassy in India, the association Cineart and the NGO PVR Nest, Renault supported a road safety education program in India. The program ended with the publication of a book on road safety, including contributions from 100,000 school children, and a campaign comprising ten films made by the children.

Sustainable Mobility in HAITI - Returning to normal life

The four minibuses donated by Renault to the French Red Cross after the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 have been given to a local association offering a reduced-price school bus service. Without this service, displaced children in Port-au-Prince would not be able to go to school. The service has made it possible to create twelve driver’s jobs and to help a displaced, vulnerable population return to a more peaceful lifestyle.

Education in SOUTH AFRICA - Valued Citizens

Valued Citizens is an NGO set up in 2001, of which Renault is a founding member. Since its founding it has contributed to teaching civic values to children from underprivileged backgrounds in South Africa, a country that has one of the world’s highest crime levels. Some 450,000 children have already followed this program, as have 430 teachers.

Diversity in BRAZIL - Support for the Borda/Viva Community

Ten percent of Brazilians are illiterate and one million children aged between 6 and 14 do not go to primary school. The Renault do Brasil plant, located close to the city of Curitiba, has put in place initiatives to promote access to education: creation of a daycare center enabling more than 200 children (between 0 and 6 years of age) to learn to read, opening of a public library, or support for a centre promoting the integration of disabled people through education, music and sport, in the state of Paraná. — SG
