New technology needed to fight diabetes

Abu Dhabi — Doctors and specialists in diabetes stressed the need to intensify awareness campaign and the development of technology to control the disease which is described as “the global tsunami.”

This came during the International Conference on Diabetes for 2017 which concluded recently in Abu Dhabi.

It saw an exhibition with a high turnout of exhibitors, patients and healthcare providers.

Dr. Ahmed Alhamdi, Director of Jazan Military Hospital, said, “There is a dire need to develop technology to help in the treatment of diabetes.”

A consultant diabetes professor Dr. Enas Shaltout said 38 million are diagnosed with the diabetes in the Middle East and North Africa. — SG
