Hundreds join Help Center in ‘Let’s Walk the Walk Together’

Event aims to foster activism toward the disabled in society

JEDDAH — For the sixth year in a row, the Help Center in Jeddah brought to light the athletic talents of children and adults with intellectual disabilities at their “Let’s Walk the Walk Together” event.

The event aimed to foster awareness and activism in the community toward people with disabilities. The event gave the young athletes an opportunity to shine and display their capabilities.

Besides having great physical, mental, spiritual and social benefits, the event offered an arena for people with disabilities to socially interact and maximize their potential. It was a platform to rally and a call for action to all those concerned with promoting and encouraging sports among people with disabilities.

The event took place at Prince Naif Road between 10 a.m. and 12 noon Thursday.

About 700 participants from 20 specialized centers in Jeddah and Makkah took part in seven different races while some 2,000 spectators and volunteers from local schools, Muntaha volunteering group, Change Your Life volunteering group, Nukhbat Al-Khair, Masafat Jeddah Marathon, Arena Gym, and Saudi Professional Unit, watched.

“Let’s Walk the Walk Together 6” was made possible with the generosity and support of local companies and government entities: Gandour as Official Sponsor, Pert Clinic, Tamer Company as Gold Sponsor, and Red Sea Gate as Bronze Sponsor. In-kind sponsors included Sofitel Jeddah, Dolphin Diving Center, Muntaha Volunteering group, and Lush Saudi Arabia. Beverage and snacks were sponsored by Dunken Donuts, Red Sea Gate, Sofitel Jeddah-Ajaweed.

The event took place with the usual and continuous support and help of the Makkah Province governorate, the Saudi Red Crescent, Civil Defense, Jeddah Police and the Ministry of Health.
