JEDDAH — All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) convener Syed Faiz Naqshbandi met with local representatives of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) and media persons at the residence of Raja Pervez, coordinator to Masood Khan, president AJK and leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Saudi Arabia.
Naqshbandi was an active member for Kashmir liberation movement. He took part in Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly elections in 1987 on the platform of Muslim United Front (MUF) from Hazratbal constituency.
He was visiting Saudi Arabia on the invitation of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take part in a photo exhibition and seminar titled “Kashmir continues to bleed” at the OIC secretariat. The event was organized by the Pakistan Consulate General in coordination of the OIC recently.
Naqshbandi called on international community and the OIC, in particular, to play its role so that the Kashmiri people can exercise their right to self-determination. He said the Kashmiri Muslims are struggling for their legitimate fundamental right of self-determination for more than six decades.
The issue could only be resolved by giving them the right of self-determination in the lines of United Nations Charter and the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
He expressed his gratitude to the OIC for taking sincere efforts to solve the issue of Kashmir according to the UN resolutions.
He said, “We also appreciate the support of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to include Kashmiris in the peace dialogues.”
Naqshbandi expressed his satisfaction over the nationalist sprit of the youth of Kashmir and said the future of the movement for freedom is very bright.
He urged the Human Rights Council (HRC) to play a role in ending the human rights violations in the valley and send a UN fact-finding mission to Kashmir.
