Riyadh — A total of 800,000 Saudi families have received financial support of more than SR900 in the second batch of the Citizen’s Account Program, it was announced on Sunday.

The amount was deposited on Jan. 10. More than 21% housewives registered in the program as beneficiaries of the second financial installment.

Some 52% of singles (male), 48% of singles (women), and 66% of families registered for financial support in the second batch.

The first installment of SR2 billion into the household allowance program was made on Dec. 21 , with 10.6 million beneficiaries.

Known as the Citizen’s Account, the scheme is a cash handout for low- and middle-income citizens to offset the impact of energy price increases.
